super destructo magic

last updated Feb-04-05

Hi, welcome to my Firefox plugins page. If you're not using Firefox, you should consider switching. For starters, the tabbed-browsing feature of Firefox beats the pants off Internet Explorer and it provides better security. Here are some search plugins I wrote.

Some of these were made in response to user requests at mozdev.org, but most were written for my own use and I thought they'd be useful to someone else. The Mycroft project page has been given new life and is now regularly updated, but I'm keeping this page for posterity.

If you like and use my plugins, drop me a note... or better yet, some ca$h to help me offset hosting costs. Suggestions, comments, and bug fixes are always welcome: If you want me to write a plugin for your site, send me an email.

Mode d'emploi:

  • click on the icon you want to install. It will become immediately available once the files have downloaded. (new plugin appear at the bottom of the search list and will resort the next time you start Firefox.)
  • To remove unwanted plugins, go to the searchplugins folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\searchplugins in Windows XP) and delete manually.

This page is getting pretty big and soon'll require dynamic scripting. Until I get around to it, it'll have to be crappy ole static HTML for now. The rating (out of 5) is entirely subjective and arbitrary. It reflects the site's usefulness to me, how useful I think it'd be to others, how well the site is designed, and how much content is has. 3 is average, below 3 is crap. Icons were made/edited in Photoshop.

Blog search plugins
These are being written as examples. I'll be adding more as requests come in, or if anyone else is writing them, I can host them here. A tutorial will be coming soon on how to make your own plugin for your blog.

Permission is granted for you to modify and re-distribute my plugins so long as you don't charge any money for them and that you leave my name and website credits in the header comments.

If you'd like to write your own search plugins, just go to the mozdev website and have a look at the documentation. After you are done writing one, you can test it with Mindzilla's plugin validator or by putting the files into Firefox's plugins folder and restarting the browser. Make sure to save your .src file as ANSI and not Unicode, or it won't work.

SiLM seal of shittiness

SiLM

Originally inspired by the flood of crappy logos during the dot.com bubble, SiLM is now 4 years old and hopelessly out of date. But it's still worth a few laughs.
