..from when I was working for a chat software company. They never made it into the product, so no harm in posting them here.

New emotes are a frequently-requested item by users, and I thought they’d add a lot of value to the user experience. I had whole sets of funny emotes designed, but they got axed. I’ll look for the sketches.

Pioneer’s new plasma TV line is called “Kuro”, which means “black” in Japanese. Deep, true black has traditionally been a problem for LCD’s and plasmas. Unfortunately, “kuro” sounds exactly like “culo”, which is Spanish for “ass”.
I finally got my act together and switched over to a prepaid plan. I had been on a Cingular (now AT&T again) monthly plan for the last 2 years. I had been meaning to do it for a long time, since I never used the minutes on my monthly plan. They just kept rolling over, and I think I had something like 2,000 minutes, and of course the phone company won’t let you save them and trade in for a free month. It was a giant waste to pay $60 for using my phone only 1 or 2 hours a month, but was afraid of losing my number by switching. I didn’t want to have to tell all my friends and clients to change my number in the phonebook.
Turns out you keep your number. You do lose web access to your old account though, so make sure you have everything you need before you make the switch. The downside is that it costs $0.10 a minute and you are charged an additional $1 on every day that you use the phone. I’m not bothered by the minutely charge, but the $1/day access fee is a pain. I’ll see how it turns out over the next month or two. It might still be better than $60 month.
