Young & Rubicam Time Tracking and Management v4.0 intranet application design
For Y&R, I designed a time tracking and attendence reporting intranet application in October 2005. Their existing application was extremely user-unfriendly and disliked by the staff, according to their SVP of Global Applications. Employees found the application difficult to use and unattractive, and eventually most of them stopped using it, so I was brought in to re-engineer the software.
My goal was to make the application intuitive and easy to use, while keeping the interface simple and minimalist. I created the following functionality demo in HTML to show the usability design and workflow. A full-scale simulation such as this allows both the users and programmers to assess the way the application will work and coding requirements, before it is built. This saves time in the development process and gives users a chance to simulate the actual experience.
